POP3 & IMAP
You can also connect to Client Access services from email applications that use POP3 and IMAP4 protocols.
However : These protocols are disabled by default,
so you must enable and configure them before connecting clients.
BUT be-careful , you cannot achieve full Exchange Server functionality with these protocols,
so we recommend that you use the native supported clients listed above.
POP3 and IMAP4 will be discussed later in different article at pioneers labs.
Active-sync for mobile
Clients can also connect to Exchange 2016 by using the Exchange ActiveSync protocol.
Clients that are using ActiveSync are Mainly mobile platforms, such as
- Windows Phone
- iOS devices,
- and Android devices.
ActiveSync clients also use HTTPS to connect to Client Access services, so no additional configuration is needed on the Client Access services side, except for configuring ActiveSync policies, if needed
Configure Outlook
configuring outlook to connect exchange is very straight forward process
